Café Slovenia was the previous name for the Slovenian/Cleveland-style segment of Polka Parade. Featuring the best in polka music with Slovenian/Cleveland-style flair, multiple DJ's bring to you eclectic perspectives each week. The Cleveland-Style polka has its roots in Slovenian folk music, but the influence of American musicians has given it universal appeal and popularity. Just as English and Irish music has evolved into country music, the polka represents the music of central Europe.

Polka Parade originates out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was the second home of America's Polka King Frankie Yankovic, a title he obtained after beating Duke Ellington in a battle of the bands in at the Milwaukee Arena. You will even occasionally hear music from America's Polka King on Polka Parade.

Led by Don Hunjadi, Mike Schneider, Ron VanDenboom, and the newest member of the DJ staff, Jerry Zagar, the Slovenian style show continues to delight Polka Parade listeners each week from 11:00-12:00 CST every Saturday. Each DJ provides their own distinct perspective of Slovenian-American/Cleveland-style, polka music.

Make sure you stop by each Saturday from 11am-Noon (Central Standard Time)to listen to the best in Polka Music on wjyi logo.
